Last week’s release of “Cowboy Casanova” caught not only us off guard, but Carrie’s management team as well.

Apparently, “Casanova” was scheduled to be released to radio on Tuesday, September 8, but an unfinished release (the “pop version”) of the song was leaked, forcing Team Carrie to rush the finished version of the song to Country radio.

Carrie wrote the song with Brett James, one of the co-writers of the award-winning song “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” and Mike Elizondo, who has interestingly worked with artists like Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Nelly Furtado.

As the reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, Carrie has a lot to live up to with her latest release in the eyes of many and we absolutely cannot wait for the release of her third full album Play On. And while we can’t wait for the album, we hope that the leaks stay at bay so that we can take it all in the way that it was meant to be listened to in its finished form.

Of course, you can listen to Cowboy Casanova right here on Carrie Underwood Central.
