Following their hosting of the 42nd Annual CMA Awards last year, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will return as hosts of the 43rd Annual CMA Awards, “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” later this year on November 11, 2009.
Last year, when Carrie hosted the show with Paisley, Carrie ended up taking home Female Vocalist of the Year honors, while Paisley took home Male Vocalist of the Year honors. With Carrie’s newest album coming out the week before the award show, it should give Carrie some good face time and exposure with country music fans on the heels of her latest release.
Also, the two both performed at the show last year, which also would make a lot of sense this year with Brad Paisley recently releasing his album American Saturday Night and of course, Carrie’s new release coming on November 3. We’ll be surprised if we don’t see performances from both, but we will be a little surprised if Carrie ends up taking home Female Vocalist honors again this year based on the timing of her albums, but we can hope!
“We are thrilled to have Brad and Carrie return as hosts after doing such a great job last year,” said Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “Both Brad and Carrie are in their prime as artists, as evidenced by them being named Male and Female Vocalist of the Year, respectively, last year. They each possess a great sense of humor and timing, which are two essential ingredients for hosting the Awards.”
“I am thrilled to get the chance to co-host the CMAs for a second time with my pal Carrie,” said Paisley. “This year we’ll pull out all the stops, like a miniature poodle balancing act, tightrope walking, and a new world record for the number of costume changes by my co-host. Don’t miss it!”
“I regret to inform Brad that I do not have a poodle, and I would appreciate it if he asks me permission before he tries on all my dresses this year,” responded Underwood. “But all kidding aside, I’m really excited to be hosting again this year with my friend, Brad, as we celebrate another wonderful year of Country Music! It’s going to be a great show!”
Carrie did a great job last year and her enthusiasm to see the performances of some of country music’s biggest stars was really fun and infectious, so we all have something else to look forward to at what is always one of the best award shows of any year!
