Carrie will be named as one of three inductees to the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame later this year on September 17, 2009. Joined by keyboardist Rocky Frisco and vocalist Ramona Reed, Carrie will be the youngest of the three inductees being named for the honor.

As noted by Bridgett Everett (Examiner.com’s Nashville Pop Culture writer), some are saying that Underwood is too young to be named to the state’s music Hall of Fame at 26 years of age. And of course, we wholeheartedly believe that success is success and that Carrie fully deserves the honor.

On CMT.com, a few users have expressed their thoughts that the honor is coming too early for Underwood.

“As a native of Oklahoma, I say that Carrie Underwood is NOT experienced enough to be inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. If she had not been a winner on the TV reality music show “American Idol,” we here in her home state probably wouldn’t even know she was a country singer.”

Others, however, have made a good point in saying that Carrie has truly made her mark on the industry and that it’s tough to deny her success, despite her age and relatively short career compared to others.

“While it may seem premature, since Carrie’s still somewhat new in the business, I think it’s safe to say that even if her career ended tomorrow, she has made her mark on country music. Ten years from now, no one will be saying, “Carrie who?” She has represented Oklahoma well, and they are obviously honored to say she’s from their state. Congratulations to Carrie for this honor. She has obviously done the State of Oklahoma proud.”

After selling over ten million albums and becoming an icon of the “next-generation” of country music that has helped bring the genre to a wider, more mainstream audience and being named the youngest-ever inducted member to Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, Carrie is no stranger to doing a little trailblazing a bit when it comes to music.  As decorated as any artist is today in terms of winning awards in and across her genre, Carrie is not only one of the biggest names in country music, but one of the biggest names in music overall right now.

With a third album on the way later this year, Carrie, along with Taylor Swift, Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler, Gloriana, and others will continue to break new ground for the next generation of country music. Congratulations to Carrie on another amazing accomplishment!
